50th year celebrations
Date: 21st & 22nd August 2010 -
THIS WEEKEND!
Where: Club Waimea. Queen St, Richmond.
Time: From 2.00pm Saturday.
Cost for the weekend: $25.00
Those under sixteen: $1.00 per year of age.
A Photographic DVD will be produced. This will contain
notable events in NSG’s history, and also speeches recorded
at the 50th celebrations. Price $5.00
A 50th Tee shirt will also be available: price $30.00
An outline of planned events:
Saturday:
2.00pm Room open to view Static displays, Tea and coffee available.
5.30pm Pre dinner drinks, Bar available.
7.00pm Dinner
8.00pm Speeches, presentations etc.
9.00pm Dessert
9.30pm Demonstrations and entertainment.
Sunday:
Option one:
Caving: There will be 3 caving trips available each one very different.
As cavers you will all know what gear is required, so bring it along
with you. The club and individuals have surplus gear if you need
it. You will need to include a packed lunch and some dry clothing
for afterwards.
- Council Cave, in Takaka, an easy cave with easy access
with Ian Millar our very own entomologist as your guide
- Commentary Cave, Upper Takaka, another easy cave with
a bit of crawling and easy climbing with our President Andrew
Smith and Secretary Dawn Wood
- Middle Earth, for the more adventurous caver, Canaan
Road, journey into Smaug’s Hall and beyond with Bruce Mutton,
SRT required.

Option two:
9.30am 4WD tour of cave locations
11.00am Morning tea provided
1.00pm Lunch Provided by NSG at Hut Takaka hill
